Leadership

Scripture teaches that a church must have one biblically qualified elder. However, there are biblical reasons for a local church to maintain a plurality of elders. The book of Proverbs states that wise decisions are made through a community of counselors. In addition, the Scriptures warn against sin and apostasy arising from within the church, including its leaders. Therefore, since there is wisdom in community decision making and to guard against sin/apostasy within church leadership, Cornerstone endeavors to maintain at least three biblically qualified elders.

KEVIN YONKER, ELDER, PREACHER

The Lord saved me at the age of 36, just before I married my wife Kristin in 2001. My testimony is that when God regenerates and gives a new heart, one's affections are completely transformed.

I've witnessed this transformation in both my wife and me. Our desire has been to learn and live truth. That desire prompted us to relocate our family from Virginia to North Carolina in order to pursue a seminary education at Shepherds Theological Seminary. Having graduated in 2014 with a Masters of Divinity, we are now serving at Cornerstone Bible Church of Sanford. The truth has changed (and is changing) our lives. We want to proclaim this truth to Sanford and shepherd those who believe.

RANDY EMBREE, ELDER

Randy professed faith in Christ at a young age and continued growing in his relationship with the Lord, being baptized at 22 years old.  He graduated with electrical engineering degrees from Washington State University, and is currently working for a local power generation company as an engineer.  Randy and his family moved from the west coast to North Carolina in 2003.  He has served in various ministries within Cary and Fuquay-Varina, and relocated to Sanford in 2008.  Randy and his wife Lynette have five children.

DAVIN MOORMAN, ELDER

Davin moved to Sanford in 2018 with his wife and six children to be an active part of Cornerstone Bible Church. God graciously saved Davin at an early age. Raised in a Christian home in Arkansas, his faith deepened in college. After graduating with engineering degrees, he moved to North Carolina in 2005. Davin has previously served in children’s and music ministries as well as participated in several overseas missions trips. He currently works in technical sales in the electronics industry.
